LS polls phase 5: 56.68% voter turnout till 5 pm on 49 constituencies

Polling in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections has concluded today, and the turnout numbers are out for the states till 5 pm.

The elections took place on 49 constituencies in 13 states and union territories including Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, Jammu Kashmir, and Ladakh.

Provisional numbers suggest that 56.68% voter turnout was observed in the 49 constituencies.

73% polling in West Bengal

Polling concluded in the seven Lok Sabha constituencies in West Bengal that went to the polls in the fifth phase today with a high voter turnout at all the seats. 

As per the provisional figures released by the office of the chief electoral officer (CEO), 73% voter turnout was recorded in the state till 5 pm, which was substantially higher than the national average of 47.53% (provisional figures) till that time.

Maximum polling was reported from Arambagh at 76.90%, followed by Bangaon (75.73%), Uluberia (74.50%), Hooghly (74.19%), Serampore (71.18%), and Barrackpore and Horwah (both 68.64%).
