LS polls phase 6: 57.70% voter turnout (provisional) till 5 pm on 58 constituencies

Polling in the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections is set to conclude today, and the turnout numbers are out for the states till 5 pm.
The elections took place on 58 constituencies in 8 states and union territories including Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, Jammu Kashmir, Haryana, and Delhi.
Provisional numbers suggest that 57.70% voter turnout was observed in the 58 constituencies.
77.99% polling in West Bengal
Amid complaints of poll-related tension and violence throughout the day, polling for the eight Lok Sabha constituencies in West Bengal today recorded 77.99% voter turnout till 5 pm.
An official of the West Bengal chief electoral officer (CEO) said that West Bengal’s poll percentage figure is higher as compared to the national average of 57.7%.
He said that the final percentage would be available on May 26 after the completion of the final tabulation.
“Going by the trend of polling, it can be well determined the polling percentage in West Bengal will cross the mark of 80 per cent mark since during the last one hour, there were long queues in front of the polling booths while in some cases polling continued even after the end the scheduled polling period,” he said.
The official said that the polling percentage was highest at Bishnupur at 81.47%, followed by Tamluk at 79.79%, Jhargram at 79.68%, Ghatal at 78.92%, Medinipur at 77.57%, Bankura at 76.79%, Kanthi at 75.66% and finally Purulia being the lowest at 74.09%.

51.35% in Jammu-Kashmir
61.41% in Jharkhand
53.73% in Delhi
59.60% in Odisha
52.02% in Uttar Pradesh
