As the world witnessed the general elections of its largest democracy, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the much-anticipated results for the 18th Lok Sabha elections of India.

Updates:

The ECI numbers are out, and NDA has secured 294 seats in total, with INDI alliance amounting to 234 seats.

“First time since 1962 a government has got a third chance,” he remarked.

“Our opponents collectively couldn‘t manage to win as many seats as BJP has won alone,” said Modi.

“This is the victory of the biggest democracy in the world,” says Modi on election results.

Speaking over the Lok Sabha results, Modi said, “The people of the country have expressed their trust in the NDA for the third consecutive time. This is an unprecedented moment in the history of India. I bow to my family for this love and blessings. I assure the countrymen that we will move forward with new energy, new enthusiasm, and new resolutions to fulfill their aspirations.”


Former Tripura CM and BJP leader Biplab Kumar Deb wins from West Tripura Lok Sabha constituency.


West Bengal CM and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee attacked Narendra Modi stating, “PM Modi couldn’t gain majority on his own. His popularity has dipped majorly. He should now resign as PM.”

Dimple Yadav won the hot seat Mainpuri by a margin of around 2,20,815 votes, defeating Jayveer Singh of BJP.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor from Thiruvananthapuram wins, defeating Union Minister Rajeev Chandrashekhar.

BJP stalwart and former MP Shivraj Singh Chauhan wins from Vidisha by over 7 lakh votes.

Veteran BJP leader and Union Minister Piyush Goyal's victory from the North Mumbai seat.


Speculations of Nitish Kumar jumping his ship again arise as the INDIA bloc is likely to offer the former a deputy prime ministerial post, say internal sources.

TDP-JNP’s lead in Andhra Pradesh of 18 seats, clubbed with JD(U) and Nitish Kumar’s lead in Bihar of 14 seats, are proving crucial for the BJP-led NDA alliance to sustain its majority.
