Lok Sabha Elections 2024: BJP discloses first list of candidates; 15 from Gujarat

In light of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has swung into action, and have announced their preliminary list of candidates today.
The party announced a list of 195 candidates, which will be fielded for the general elections this year.
Prime minister Narendra Modi will fight the election from Varanasi, UP, for the third consecutive time. Meanwhile, defence minister Rajnath Singh is fielded from Lucknow, Smriti Irani from Amethi, and home minister Amit Shah from Gandhinagar.

Gujarat’s 2019 candidates:
Out of the total 15, Vinod Chavda, Bharatsinh Dabhi, Amit Shah, Poonam Maadam, Mitesh Patel, Devusinh Chauhan, Jashvantsinh Bhabhor, Mansukh Mandaviya, Prabhu Vasava, and CR Patil are to repeat their candidature on their respective seats.
Meanwhile, incumbent MPs, including Parbat Patel (Banaskantha), Kirit Solanki (Ahmedabad West), Mohan Kundariya (Rajkot), Ramesh Dhaduk (Porbandar), and Ratansinh Rathod (Panchmahal) are not fielded in this year's elections.
BJP announced candidates for a total 195 seats:
11 candidates from Assam, 51 from Uttar Pradesh, 20 from West Bengal, 24 Madhya Pradesh, 15 from Gujarat, 15 from Rajasthan, 12 from Kerala, 9 from Telangana, 11 from Jharkhand, 11 from Chhattisgarh, 5 from Delhi, 2 from Jammu-Kashmir, 3 from Uttarakhand, 2 from Arunachal Pradesh, 1 from Goa, 1 from Tripura, 1 from Andaman and Nicobar, and 1 from Dadra Nagar Haveli.

In a media briefing, BJP leader Vinod Tawde announced the names of 195 candidates contesting the 2024 Parliamentary elections.
In the list, of the 195 nominees, two former chief ministers and Lok Sabha Speaker have been included.
A total of 34 Union Ministers and Ministers of States will be fielded again in the Lok Sabha polls.
The party finalised the names of candidates during BJP's Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting chaired by PM Modi.
It is noteworthy that the former India opener and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP, Gautam Gambhir, announced his decision to step away from active politics.
Party leader Jayant Sinha also announced to withdraw from the elections.
