The turmoil within Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family escalated sharply on Sunday, a day after his daughter Rohini Acharya publicly accused unnamed individuals of humiliating and threatening her, prompting her to walk out of the Patna residence.

Following her exit, three of her sisters Rajlakshmi, Ragini and Chanda also reportedly left the family home along with their children and travelled to Delhi.

Rohini, who donated a kidney to her father in 2022 and has been an active face in the party, posted a deeply emotional message on X on Sunday. She alleged she was verbally abused, insulted, and even faced an attempt to physically assault her.

“A daughter, a sister, a mother were humiliated… filthy abuses were hurled… a slipper was raised to hit her. I did not compromise on my self-respect. Because I stood by the truth, I was forced to leave my crying parents and sisters behind. They left me orphaned,” she wrote in Hindi.

Without naming anyone in her Sunday post, she said she was pushed out of her maternal home. This followed her Saturday claim that she was quitting politics and distancing herself from her family under pressure. That message explicitly named Tejashwi Yadav’s close aides Sanjay Yadav and Rameez Khan, whom she accused of forcing her decision.

Rohini’s outburst has triggered intense speculation about a deepening internal feud, especially after the RJD’s disastrous performance in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, where the party managed only 25 seats, compared to the NDA’s commanding 202.

Signs of friction had emerged earlier when Rohini unfollowed several RJD leaders, reportedly upset over the removal of her brother Tej Pratap Yadav from the party.
