Kolkata IT professional killed while saving partner from sexual harassment

A 29-year-old man, an IT professional, tragically lost his life while trying to save his live-in partner from sexual harassment in Kolkata. The man, identified as Sanket Chatterjee, was reportedly attacked by three men after intervening to protect his partner.
According to reports, Sanket and the woman had been in a relationship for over a year and were planning to get married soon. They had been living together in a flat in Kolkata.
The incident took place around 2.30 am, following a heated argument between the couple. The woman had stepped out of the flat, prompting a concerned Sanket to go out and look for her.
While she was outside, the woman was reportedly accosted by three men near her residence. All three were allegedly under the influence of alcohol. One of the men grabbed her by the arm, prompting her to scream for help.
Hearing her cries, Sanket rushed to the spot and managed to free her from their grip. However, the attackers turned on him. One of the men struck Sanket with a brick, while the other two joined in with sticks, brutally assaulting him.
The woman’s continued screams eventually drew the attention of nearby residents, causing the attackers to flee. Sanket was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
The accused – identified as Sambhu Mandal, Sagar Das, and Raju Ghosh – have been arrested and booked for murder.
