Khalistani supporters try to attack EAM S Jaishankar, tear Indian flag in London
India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is on a six-day visit to Britain and Ireland. On Thursday, he addressed a session at the Chatham House think tank on the topic, ‘India’s Rise and Role in the World’. However, a shocking incident took place when Khalistani extremists harassed and tried to assault Jaishankar as he was leaving in a car after attending the event. A video circulating online shows a man running toward Jaishankar’s vehicle and tearing the Indian national flag in front of London police officers. This incident has sparked widespread discussions across India.
Before Jaishankar arrived at Chatham House, some pro-Khalistan supporters had already gathered outside the venue and started chanting anti-India slogans. As Jaishankar was leaving the venue, an attempt was made to attack him.
In the viral video it can be seen that a person suddenly ran towards Jaishankar’s car and tore the Indian national flag. Security personnel immediately intervened, restrained the individual, and removed him from the scene. Meanwhile, some pro-Khalistan supporters were seen waving Khalistani flags and raising slogans.
