Kashmiris gather in solidarity to condemn killing of ex-serviceman in Kulgam

A day after the gruesome killing of an ex-serviceman in south Kashmir's Kulgam, more than 500 locals gathered at Shaheed Farooq Chowk in Pulwama for a candle march.

Lance Naik (L/Nk) Manzoor Ahmed Waghey (Retd) and his family was attacked by terrorists on Monday.

According to a source, 39-years-old Lance naik (L/Nk) Manzoor Ahmed Waghey (Retd) - shot in abdomen, succumbed to his injuries.

His wife Aaina Akhtar (32) was shot on left thigh while Saina Hameed, daughter of Habibullah Shah (13), a relative of L/Nk Manzoor Ahmed Waghey, was shot on right hand.

The Valley saw a huge crowd of people taking to the roads in the chilly evening of Tuesday from various walks of life to demand justice and express their grief over the tragic loss.

Areas that witnessed candle march were Pulwama, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Anantnag, and Shopian.

The people carried candles and placards that read “Kashmir Against Violence”, and “Say No To Terror”. 

The march concluded peacefully, with a collective call for stronger action against terrorism and support for the families of those who lay down their lives for the nation.
