June 25 announced as 'Samvidhan Hatya Diwas' by Centre

Union Home Minister Amit Shah today took to X and declared June 25 as the 'Samvidhan Hatya Diwas' through a gazette.

Notably, June 25 is the day, when in 1975, emergency was declared during the tenure of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

"Government of India declares 25th June as "Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas (संविधान हत्या दिवस)" to pay tribute to all those who suffered and fought against the gross abuse of power during the period of Emergency and to recommit the people of India to not support in any manner such gross abuse of power, in future," read the gazette shared by the home minister.
