Japanese tourist harassed by 5 men near Jaipur fort, accused caught on CCTV

A disturbing incident in Jaipur has once again raised serious questions about the safety of foreign tourists especially women travelling alone in India.
In a video that went viral on social media, a Japanese tourist alleged that she was harassed near Jaigarh Fort while travelling from Amer. The complaint, filed at the Amer police station, states that four to five youth surrounded her and attempted to misbehave.
DCP North Jaipur Karan Sharma reportedly confirmed that a case has been registered and CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined to identify the suspects.
The tourist’s account, shared in a now-viral video, paints a chilling picture. She alleged that she was surrounded by a group of young men, one of whom twisted her arm, while others engaged in non-consensual physical contact before fleeing the scene.
This is not an isolated case. In June 2025, a French woman was allegedly raped in Udaipur after being lured to an apartment by a man she met at a party. The accused was later identified, and a case was registered by police.
Earlier, in 2024, a Spanish traveller was gang-raped in Dumka during her journey across India. Despite the trauma, she chose to continue her world tour, later stating that she did not blame the country but the criminals involved.
India remains one of the world’s most culturally rich and diverse travel destinations, attracting millions of tourists every year. However, repeated incidents involving foreign women have amplified concerns over ground-level safety, law enforcement responsiveness, and public accountability.
