Jamui Molestation Case: Police Arrest Main Accused’s Father, Wanted In 21-Year-Old Double Murder

A police operation to arrest the main accused in the Jamui molestation case led to the arrest of his father, who was allegedly wanted in a double murder case for more than two decades.

The accused father, identified as Ganauri Yadav, was allegedly absconding since 2003 in connection with the murder of two brothers. He was arrested when police raided the residence of his son, Nandan Yadav, while investigating the viral video of the Jamui molestation case.

Viral Video Triggers Police Investigation

The case came to light after a video showing the alleged molestation and assault of a minor girl and her male friend went viral on social media.

According to the police investigation, on September 19, a Class 10 girl and her friend were allegedly stopped by a group of youths while returning from coaching near the Lakhisarai border in Jamui.

The accused allegedly harassed the girl, attempted to forcibly take her away and assaulted both minors. The incident was recorded on video and subsequently circulated on social media, triggering widespread outrage.

Police formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and launched a probe based on the video.

Nandan Yadav Injured In Police Firing

During the investigation, police initially detained three minors and subsequently began searching for Nandan Yadav and his alleged associate, Hareram.

Police said that when a team went to apprehend Nandan, he allegedly opened fire at the officers and attempted to flee. Police retaliated, during which Nandan sustained a gunshot injury to his leg.

Hareram also allegedly attempted to escape and sustained a serious knee injury. Both were taken to hospital and placed under arrest, according to police.

Father Emerges As Wanted Accused

Following Nandan’s arrest, police conducted further inquiries into his family background and came across records showing that his father, Ganauri Yadav, was allegedly wanted in a 2003 double murder case.

According to police records, on April 3, 2003, brothers D.P. Yadav and Poona Yadav were allegedly shot dead in Pratappur village following a business dispute and an old enmity.

The victims’ mother, Sansar Devi, had allegedly named Ganauri Yadav in the FIR. Police said he had remained absconding for around 21 years.

21-Year Manhunt Ends During Son’s Arrest Operation

Ganauri Yadav was allegedly found at his residence when police raided the house to arrest his son in connection with the Jamui molestation case.

Police have arrested Nandan Yadav and his alleged associates under relevant provisions, including the POCSO Act, in connection with the molestation case.

Ganauri Yadav was separately arrested in connection with the 2003 double murder case and sent to judicial custody.
