An IndiGo Airlines flight travelling from Delhi to Bagdogra made an emergency landing at Lucknow airport on Sunday following a bomb threat reported onboard, as per police reports.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rajneesh Verma reportedly stated that a handwritten note was found inside the aircraft. The note, written on a piece of tissue paper and found in the aircraft’s lavatory, claimed that a bomb was present on the flight.

“The message was found in the toilet of the aircraft stating that there was a bomb on board. The flight, which was en route from Delhi to Bagdogra, was carrying 238 passengers along with pilots and crew. It made an emergency landing in Lucknow and is currently being searched,” ACP Verma told a news agency.

Following the landing, the aircraft was moved to an isolation bay at Lucknow airport as a precautionary measure. Bomb disposal squads and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel sealed off the area and carried out a thorough search of the aircraft.

All passengers were safely evacuated and subjected to security checks.

Airport officials said air traffic control received information about the threat at around 8.46 am on January 18. The aircraft landed safely at 9.17 am.

According to officials, the flight was carrying 230 passengers—including 222 adults and eight infants—along with two pilots and five cabin crew members. Authorities said the situation was being closely monitored and further details were being verified.

In a separate incident last Christmas, a bomb threat email was received at the customer support address of Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad in connection with Flynas flight XY 325. An airport official said the aircraft landed safely and all mandatory safety and security procedures were followed, with security agencies conducting checks in line with standard protocols.
