IndiGo Flight Hits VDGS Pole While Parking At Srinagar Airport, All Passengers Safe

An IndiGo flight from Navi Mumbai to Srinagar came into contact with a Visual Docking Guidance System (VDGS) pole while parking at Srinagar Airport on Friday morning. All passengers and crew members were reported safe.

Flight Makes Contact With VDGS Pole

IndiGo flight 6E 225 (VT-NOG) came into contact with the VDGS pole at around 9:02 am while being positioned at Bay No. 06 at Srinagar Airport, according to a statement.

The pole supports the VDGS display unit and its associated laser or camera sensors.

Passengers and crew members were safely deboarded from the aircraft using manual stairs. No injuries were reported.

Exact Cause Yet To Be Determined

Airport officials said the details and circumstances leading to the incident will be examined by the appropriate authorities as per prescribed procedures.

The exact cause will be established after the enquiry is completed. Officials said no conclusion regarding the cause was being drawn at this stage.

Meanwhile, airport operations continued normally, with flight arrivals and departures operating as per schedule.

IndiGo Flight Diverted To Muscat A Day Earlier

The incident came a day after an IndiGo flight from Doha to Bengaluru was safely diverted to Muscat after the pilot-in-command reported feeling unwell and required immediate medical attention.

The pilot of flight 6E 1302 was attended to by a medical team after landing in Muscat and was later taken to hospital. The crew member was subsequently found to be in good health.

IndiGo arranged an alternate aircraft from Bengaluru to Muscat along with a fresh set of crew members to allow passengers to continue their journey to Bengaluru.

The airline said the flight was diverted due to an urgent requirement for medical attention for one of the operating crew members. It also provided refreshments and regular updates to passengers waiting in Muscat.

All customers and crew are safe and have deplaned the aircraft. In line with established protocols, the relevant authorities were immediately informed, and together we are investigating the matter. The aircraft has been grounded for necessary maintenance and will resume operations after securing required clearances.
