India is set to change the landscape of transportation with the approval of its first 40-kilometer-long hyperloop project. The Ministry of Railways has reportedly given the go-ahead for this pioneering initiative, which will reportedly place India at the forefront of next-generation travel technology.

According to reports, the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai will lead the fabrication of hyperloop modules, building upon the development work done at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M). As per reports, TuTr Hyperloop, a deep-tech startup incubated by IIT-M, is expected to begin construction next month on the world’s first fully operational hyperloop system in India.

In a related development, a 410-meter-long hyperloop test tube, the longest in Asia, has been constructed at IIT-M. This test tube will support the development of hyperloop systems by providing optimal conditions to validate necessary technologies and components.
