The Union Ministry of Defence on Wednesday announced the historic accomplishment of ‘Operation Sindoor’, India’s retaliatory action to the horrific Pahalgam terror attack that took 28 innocent lives on April 22.

A statement from the ministry at 1.44 am on Wednesday read, “A little while ago, the Indian Armed Forces launched ‘OPERATION SINDOOR’, hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed.”

As per the ministry, nine sites were targeted.

However, it also noted that no military facilities in Pakistan were targeted and that India has shown ‘considerable restraint’ in selection of targets and methods of execution.

“Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted,” it said.

“We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable,” said the ministry.

The methods and details of the operation, however, were not revealed. “There will be a detailed briefing on Operation Sindoor, later today,” said the statement.
