In a matter of pride to 140 cr citizens of the nations, India’s ISRO has made a successful touchdown on the moon surface, and the Chandrayaan-3 moon mission of India is now officially successful.

The mission now aims to explore the moon's surface by manoeuvring a robotic rover there. It also aims to explore and study elements present on the moon.

With breaths held tight, the whole country will look up to the moon, with hopes in their eyes, to see their country cross another milestone, with an agency beloved by all: ISRO.

Launched on July 14, 2023, the anticipatory journey of the Chandrayaan-3 filled with excitement is into its final phase, after a month and a little more.

According to ISRO, the Vikram lander, supposed to make a touchdown on the far side of the moon, will accomplish the feat at around 6.04 p.m. With that, India can become the first country to successfully soft-land on the south pole of the moon.

A record, which was almost taken away a few days ago by Russia’s Luna-25 mission. But unfortunately for ‘the bear’, it couldn’t happen. And with that, now India knocks at the doors of history.

Watch it live

For many, Chandrayaan-3’s landing on the moon will be an ‘I was there’ moment. To be a part of that, you can head onto ISRO’s official website, isro.gov.in where the event will be live-streamed.

Moreover, the live telecast for the same will be available on DD National TV, and ISRO’s social handles on Facebook and YouTube.

The final 17 minutes of the Chandrayaan-3 mission

After checking all the parameters and deciding on the landing, ISRO will upload all the necessary commands to the landing module a few hours before the landing from its Indian Deep Space Network (IDSN) at Byalalu near Bengaluru.

The soft-landing process will be completed in 19 minutes. 17 of those minutes will be very important. During that time, the engine of the lander has to be started at the right time and at the right altitude. The proper amount of fuel has to be used and before landing it has to be ensured that there is no obstacle, hill or pothole.

Spirituality to boost science

In a spectacular display of well-directed patriotism, the whole country has witnessed and provided support for ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3.

At places like New Delhi, Agra, and Varanasi, people have conducted ‘havans’ for the safe and successful landing of the lunar module.

In Chennai, students with painted faces surrounded a replica of Chandrayaan-3 on Aug 22. Indians in the USA have also performed a ‘havan’ at a temple in Virginia, US, for the successful landing on the moon.

A Shiv Sena (UBT) leader also performed a ‘havan’ at Chandramouleshwara Shiv Mandir in Mumbai on Aug 22.

At the Islamic centre in Lucknow, people offered ‘namaz’ for the same cause, according to reports.

In Ahmedabad, a man was seen, painted in tricolours, supporting India’s shot at glory through its space mission.
