The central government’s India Post has announced a major recruitment drive for Class 10 pass candidates. The department will fill 44,228 vacancies for Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) across 23 circles in the country.

Online applications for this recruitment have started as of July 15. Those interested can apply through the official website of India Post, indiapostgdsonline.gov.in. The last date to apply is Aug 5.

An application fee of ₹100 will have to be paid for the online form, in which persons from SC, ST, PwD, female, and transgender categories are exempt.

Notably, a total of 2,034 vacancies opened in Gujarat under this appointment. For this, applicants must have a command of the Gujarati language.

Apart from this, recruitment for 3,083 vacancies in Maharashtra, 2,718 in Rajasthan, 3,789 in Tamil Nadu, and 4,588 in Uttar Pradesh will be done.

The selection of the candidates for GDS will be based on their Class 10 marks. The postal department will prepare a merit list for the same.

The pay scale for ABPM (Assistant Branch Post Master)-GDS is ₹10,000 to ₹24,470 per month, while the pay scale for BPM (Branch Post Master) is ₹12,000 to ₹29,380 per month.

Notably, GDS are not permanent government employees.
