The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted very heavy rainfall in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand over the next 2–3 days, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.
As per reports, several other states, including Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh, are also expected to witness thunderstorms and hailstorms during this period.
For Gujarat, the IMD has issued warnings of extremely heavy rainfall, particularly in the western and southern regions.
In Odisha, heavy rains and possible hailstorms are likely on May 5, especially in Mayurbhanj, Kendujhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Gajapati districts, with a gradual reduction expected from May 7.
In addition to these states, isolated heavy rainfall is forecasted in West Rajasthan, Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and the Nicobar Islands.
The IMD has also indicated that Delhi will experience cloudy skies, light rain, and surface winds reaching up to 40–60 kmph, providing temporary relief from the heat. Rainfall and storm activity are likely to continue in parts of northwestern India until 10 May.
