The development comes after Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh had earlier submitted documents to the SIT alleging irregularities in land purchases linked to the Ram Temple project. Those allegations also named Champat Rai, General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
Questions Raised Over Project Cost
Mahipal Singh has also questioned the sharp rise in the temple's construction cost.
He claimed that the temple's design and project plan had already been finalised, based on which the estimated construction cost was ₹800 crore. However, he alleged that despite the project being executed according to the approved plan, the reported expenditure increased to around ₹2,200 crore.
Seeking a fair and independent investigation, Singh questioned how the project's estimated cost increased by nearly ₹1,400 crore and called for a thorough examination of the expenditure.
