Help save an accident victim, gain ₹25,000

India’s Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has announced that citizens who help transfer road accident victims to hospital within one hour of the accident will now receive ₹25,000.
Currently, the reward for citizens who take accident victims to the hospital is ₹5,000. The scheme to provide rewards to citizens who help accident victims was introduced in 2021.
Gadkari said that the current reward was insufficient, and now the government will provide ₹25,000 to citizens who rush accident victims to the hospital within one hour, as the first hour is crucial for treatment.
Gadkari also announced that the treatment for road accident victims will be free up to ₹1.5 lakh for seven days.
He further mentioned that the scheme applies to both state and national highways for people injured in accidents.
This new policy will come into effect in March 2025, and the incident must be reported to the police within 24 hours.
The Centre aims to provide timely treatment and assist over 50,000 victims in this manner.
