Helium balloon explosion at Mahakumbh injures six
The Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, held once every 112 years and drawing countless devotees, witnessed yet another unfortunate incident. Following recent incidents of a stampede and a fire, a helium balloon explosion on Monday left six devotees severely injured.
The explosion occurred near Sector 20 Akhada, where the helium balloon burst, injuring six devotees who were on board the balloon ride. All injured individuals were rushed to Nehru Hospital, with one devotee reportedly in critical condition.
The injured have been identified as Pradip and Nikhil from Rishikesh, Aman from Haridwar, Lalit from Madhya Pradesh, Shubham from Indore, and Mayank from Prayagraj. Authorities are investigating the cause of the incident.
The Mahakumbh has witnessed a series of unfortunate incidents, resulting in injuries and fatalities among devotees.
A stampede that occurred on January 29 reportedly claimed 30 lives and left many injured.
Following this tragedy, a fire broke out at Nageshwar Ghat in Sector 22 on January 30, burning down tents and adding to the chaos.
In response to these incidents, the government suspended devotee entry to the Mahakumbh to regain control of the situation and ensure public safety.
