Amid reports of LPG supply disruptions linked to the ongoing US-Israel-Iran tensions, a new facility has reportedly been introduced in Gurugram to ease access to cooking gas. India’s first LPG vending machine, referred to as a ‘gas ATM’, has been launched, allowing users to obtain a filled cylinder within minutes.

According to reports, the smart machine has been installed at Central Park Flower Valley in Sohna as part of a pilot initiative by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). The system is designed to eliminate long waiting times typically associated with LPG delivery.

The vending unit is fully automated and operates through a contactless process. Users are required to log in using their registered mobile number, verify via OTP, scan a QR code, and complete the payment through UPI. Once the transaction is successful, the machine dispenses a filled cylinder while simultaneously collecting the empty one.

Reports suggest that the cylinders provided through the machine are composite cylinders made of fibre, unlike conventional iron ones. These are significantly lighter around 15 kg compared to nearly 30 kg for traditional cylinders making them easier to handle. The transparent design also allows users to monitor the gas level.
