Police have arrested a woman, Pooja Saini alias Pooja Batra, who is pursuing an air hostess course, in the murder of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, said officials on Dec 11.
Kota-based Pooja and her husband had made arrangements for shooter Nitin Fauji to stay in Jaipur. Weapons were also made available to him. He was also introduced to some people.
Pooja is undergoing training as an air hostess in Jaipur, said police.
Jaipur police commissioner Biju George Joseph said, “A team raided a flat under the monitoring of additional DCP. The police found Pooja there. When Pooja inquired about Nitin, she told that Nitin was staying here. Not only this, Pooja shared the flat with Nitin Fauji for many days. Pooja has been arrested and is being interrogated,” he added.
Joseph said, “Pooja is the wife of Kota’s history-sheeter Mahendra alias Sameer. Along with providing residential help to the accused, Mahendra and Pooja also provided weapons to the shooters.
“Mahendra allegedly dropped both the shooters in his car on the Ajmer Road to kill Gogamedi by giving them ₹50,000 each and modern weapons. Mahendra is still absconding.”
“Pooja is the fifth arrest in the case. First, Ramveer from Jaipur was arrested for helping the shooter. After this, both the shooters Nitin Fauji and Rohit Rathore were arrested from Chandigarh. Udham Singh, who helped both the shooters, was also arrested,” said the police officials.

The two shooters, including Nitin Fauji and Rohit Rathod, involved in the killing of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi used public transport, train and taxi to evade arrest, said an official.
The Delhi police’s crime branch had been tracking the movement of the shooters for the last 72 hours after the Rajasthan police approached them, the official said.
“Rajasthan police provided intel that the shooters after killing Gogamedi on Dec 5, took a taxi to Didwana in Rajasthan. From there, they boarded a bus to Delhi,” the official said
However, during the Delhi police probe, it was revealed that the two shooters (Fauji and Rathod) disembarked from the bus at Dharuhera (Haryana).
“They took an auto-rickshaw from Dharuhera to Rewari railway station, then boarded a train for Hisar (Haryana). Upon reaching Hisar in the morning, they contacted Udham Singh, who arranged a taxi,” the official explained.
Notably, in the entire case there are a total of four accused, two being the prime accused who shot the chief and the other two were helpers. One of the helpers, Naveen Shekhawat, who was accompanying Gogamedi, died during the shooting on Dec 5 and another Udham Singh was arrested.
From Hisar, the trio travelled to Manali in Himachal Pradesh. Upon their return to Chandigarh on Dec 10, a team stationed there apprehended them.
A team, under the supervision of Amit Goel, deputy commissioner of police, Delhi police (crime branch), collaborated with Rajasthan police and during a late-night raid at a hotel in Sector 22 in Chandigarh, the team successfully apprehended the two shooters, Rohit and Nitin, along with Udham Singh, said the official.
Main accused served Indian Army?
Nitin Fauji one of the main accused was commissioned into the Indian Army as lance naik.
Fauji, a native of Mahendragarh, had not returned to the Army after his leave on Nov 7, engaging in criminal activities in Haryana.
On Dec 5, two assailants entered Gogamedi’s house in the Shyam Nagar area of Jaipur and opened fire at him. He was taken to the Metro Mass Hospital in Mansarovar where he was declared dead.
His supporters have been sitting on strike since then demanding the arrest of the accused. On the evening of Dec 6, Gogamedi’s wife, Shila Shekhawat, in an address at the protest site, said: “I have a demand that the protest will continue until the accused is brought before us.”
