Goa BJP leader & ex-minister accuses own government of corruption

Former Goa minister and BJP leader Pandurang Madaikar has stirred a controversy after alleging corruption within his own government. Though he did not name any specific individuals, Madaikar claimed that illegal financial transactions were taking place within the state government.
According to reports, Madaikar stated that he had even paid a sum of ₹15 to 20 lakh to a minister for completing a small task. Despite the payment, he claimed that the work remained unfinished, and his file was left pending.
Madaikar also criticised the government, stating that ministers were preoccupied with financial gains while the state’s development was at a standstill.
Madaikar, who previously served as a minister in the Manohar Parrikar-led cabinet of Goa, faced sharp criticism from his colleagues and the opposition. BJP members, including Goa Industries Minister Mauvin Godinho, demanded that Madaikar reveal the name of the minister involved in the alleged corruption. They also urged him to substantiate his claims.
In response, Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Dessai called on Madaikar to provide proof of his allegations. Dessai asserted that he has not accepted money for any official work and questioned the validity of Madaikar’s statement, urging him to refrain from making such remarks without evidence. The controversy has sparked a debate on the governance of the BJP in the coastal state.
