A major disaster has struck Chamoli, Uttarakhand, where a glacier suddenly burst in Mana village, causing massive destruction. Around 41 workers are feared trapped under the ice. Reports suggest that a total of 57 workers were affected by the disaster, but 16 have been rescued so far, while the search operation for the remaining individuals is ongoing.

As per reports, at the time of the accident, a large number of laborers working under a private contractor were present at the site. All of them were employed under a BRO (Border Roads Organisation) contract. When the glacier broke, chaos ensued, and many workers tried to flee. While some managed to escape, 57 workers got trapped under the ice.

For the past two days, the weather conditions in mountainous areas have been extremely severe. Along with Uttarakhand, several regions of Himachal Pradesh have also been experiencing heavy rainfall. In some places, rivers have started overflowing, leading to flood-like conditions.

Due to continuous rain, various regions of Himachal Pradesh have suffered extensive damage. Shocking visuals of devastation have emerged from the Kullu district, where rivers and streams have overflowed, submerging several areas.

Taking the current weather conditions into account, the Meteorological Department has issued an Orange Alert for various parts of Himachal Pradesh. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, while rescue operations are underway in Chamoli to rescue the trapped workers.
