The four states assembly elections have been declared, as the trends at 6.30 p.m. indicate clear victory for the BJP in three states, while Congress won Telangana from BRS.

The assembly elections were held across these four states in a total of 639 legislative constituencies.


Rajasthan Election Results:

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today accepted the Congress’ defeat in the assembly elections, and he is expected to meet Governor Kalraj Mishra to resign as CM.

A source in the know of things said Gehlot will submit his resignation to Governor Kalraj Mishra at 5.30 p.m.

Gehlot said that “we respect the mandate”.

As per the Election Commission, the BJP won 115 seats till the time of writing this, while the Congress bagged 69 seats.

Early trends show a clear victory for the BJP in Rajasthan. The state’s anti-incumbency has yet again come to play, as Ashok Gehlot is set to lose his office after five years. BJP, led by state chief CP Joshi, and former CM Vasundhara Raje have toppled the Gehlot-Pilot government with a clear majority at 112 seats.

Rajasthan, with a total of 200 seats, held its elections on Nov 25. The Congress emerged victorious in the 2018 assembly elections, while the BJP won with a majority in the 2013 elections. The polls held in the state on Nov 25 recorded a voter turnout of 74.13%. The majority figure in the state is 100.

Madhya Pradesh Election Results:

CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan is set to regain power for the fifth time in 18 years in Madhya Pradesh, as the BJP is steering towards a victory with fine margins at 161 seats against former CM Kamal Nath-led Congress. 

Madhya Pradesh has 230 assembly seats, and earlier experienced a hung assembly in 2018, with the Congress, which won the most seats, forming the government in the state with the support of the BSP, SP and independents. 

However, after Jyotiraditya Scindia’s rebellion against the Congress, the Kamal Nath government of the Congress collapsed within 15 months and BJP came to power. The majority figure in Madhya Pradesh is 116.

Telangana Election Results:

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao on Sunday admitted the party's defeat in Telangana Assembly elections, saying the results were disappointing, but will bounce back.

KTR congratulated the Congress party on winning the mandate.

“Wishing you Good Luck,” he said in a post on X.

KTR had dismissed the exit polls, which had given an edge to the Congress. He had termed them ‘nonsense’ and ‘rubbish’ and exuded confidence that BRS would emerge victorious in exact polls.

KTR on Sunday added a comment to this post. “This one ain’t gonna age well. Missed the mark.”

K Chandrashekar Rao and his party, Bharat Rashtra Samithi’s reign in the country’s youngest state - Telangana, is set to end as Revanth Reddy led Congress is looking for a shift of power in the state, winning 66 seats. 

Telangana has 119 assembly seats. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) (formerly Telangana Rashtra Samithi) won the 2014 and 2018 elections after Telangana was carved out of Andhra Pradesh. 60 is the mark to get a majority in the state. The term of the 15th Legislative Assembly of the state ends on Jan 14, 2024.

Chhattisgarh Election Results:

After a long haul of hung results, Chhattisgarh results are striding towards a shift of power, as incumbent CM Bhupesh Baghel and Congress are overpowered by Arun Sao-led BJP. Congress are trailing with 34 seats, while BJP is looking for a victory with 54 seats in the bag.

Chhattisgarh has 90 assembly seats, and the state has an incumbent Congress government, formed in 2018, while BJP won the 2013 elections.

Two phase elections were held in the state on Nov 7 and 17. The majority mark in the state is 46.
