Four Killed in Bengal’s Nadia After Motorcycle Crashes into Wall Following Cremation

Four young men died in a tragic road accident in West Bengal's Nadia district on Thursday morning. The incident happened when they were returning home on a single motorcycle after attending the cremation ceremony of a local relative.

Police said the rider lost control of the speeding motorcycle in the Saheb Danga area under Ranaghat Police Station. The vehicle crashed into the outer wall of an old roadside house. The sudden impact caused the wall to collapse immediately, crushing all four men under the heavy debris.

Details of the Tragic Journey

The victims were residents of the Musunda locality in Ranaghat. They had traveled earlier to the Balagarh cremation ghat, situated along the Bhagirathi River, to perform the final rites for an elderly neighborhood woman who passed away on Wednesday.

Two of the young men died instantly at the crash site due to severe injuries. Local residents and police officers quickly rescued the remaining two in critical condition and rushed them to the Ranaghat Sub-divisional Hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.

Investigation and Community Reaction

The deceased have been identified as Soumen Haldar, Pratap Pramanik, Ajit Biswas, and Sabuj Biswas. Officers from Ranaghat Police Station recovered the bodies and sent them for postmortem examinations as part of the formal legal process.

A wave of shock and grief has spread across the Musunda neighborhood following the sudden loss of four young lives. Local authorities and police are investigating the exact cause of the crash, while also highlighting the extreme danger and traffic rule violation of riding four people on a single motorcycle. Local political leaders, including District BJP President Aparna Nandi, visited the hospital to offer condolences and support to the grieving families.
