Five Family Members Found Dead In Rest House in Andhra Pradesh; Police Launch Investigation

Five members of a family were found dead inside a locked room at a rest house in Andhra Pradesh’s temple town of Srisailam on Tuesday, with police suspecting financial difficulties may have led to the deaths.

Two men and three women were found hanging inside a room at Vaddera Sataram, a rest house used by devotees visiting the Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy temple. Police said the family is believed to have died around three days before the incident came to light.

Foul Smell Led To Discovery

According to police, two men were found hanging from a ceiling fan inside the room, while three women were found hanging in the washroom.

The room had remained locked, and the deaths were discovered after rest house staff noticed a foul smell and alerted the police. Officers broke open the door and found all five members dead.

Atmakur DSP Ramanjaneyulu visited the spot and said the family was from Battalapalli in Sri Sathya Sai district.

Family Had Been Staying In Srisailam Since July

The deceased have been identified as Pallapu Sudhakar, 50, Gogula Adilakshmi, 36, Malleshwari, 45, Sridevi, 33, and 15-year-old Manikantha. Manikantha was Malleshwari’s son.

Police said Sudhakar, his three sisters and his nephew had arrived in Srisailam on July 28 in an auto-rickshaw. They checked into room number 11 at Vaddera Sataram and had been staying there for nearly a month.

The family was reportedly paying a daily rent of ₹29. When rest house staff asked them to vacate the room, they requested more time, saying they were unwell and wanted to make a pledge at the temple.

Financial Problems Under Police Lens

Preliminary investigation indicates that the family was facing financial difficulties, police said.

Two of the women were divorced, while Sudhakar was unmarried and was reportedly taking care of his sisters.

Police have not yet established the exact circumstances that led to the deaths and said the case was being investigated from all angles.

Bodies Sent For Post-Mortem

The bodies were shifted to a government hospital in Srisailam for post-mortem examinations.

Police have registered a case and begun further investigation to establish the sequence of events and determine what led to the deaths.

Authorities have not ruled out any aspect of the case at this stage.
