First ceasefire breach in Poonch: India responds swiftly to Pakistani provocation

Relations between India and Pakistan have worsened once again, as Pakistani troops engaged in unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir for the fourth consecutive night, official sources reported.

The incident took place during the night of April 27 and 28, when Pakistani army posts initiated small arms fire across the LoC, targeting areas opposite Kupwara and Poonch districts. The Indian Army responded to the provocation “swiftly and effectively”, according to the reports

Notably, this marks the first ceasefire violation by Pakistani forces in the Poonch sector, a region that had previously remained relatively calm under the 2021 ceasefire agreement.

The fresh round of cross-border firing comes in the aftermath of a brutal terror attack in Pahalgam last Tuesday, where 26 people were killed.
