Fire at fireworks unit in Andhra Pradesh kills 8, injures 7; CM orders probe

A fire broke out at a licensed fireworks manufacturing unit in Kailasapatnam village, Kotauratla mandal, Anakapalle district, claiming the lives of eight workers and injuring seven others. The tragic incident occurred on Sunday.
According to initial reports, the fire erupted suddenly, engulfing the unit and trapping several workers inside. Locals quickly alerted authorities, and emergency services rushed to the spot. The injured were immediately shifted to Narsipatnam Hospital for treatment.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire. Preliminary inquiries are underway, and officials are assessing whether safety protocols were followed at the unit.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed sorrow over the incident. In a post on social media, he stated, “The death of six workers in a fire at a fireworks manufacturing facility in Kotavuratla, Anakapalle district has come as a shock. The information that the death toll is likely to increase has caused concern.”
The Chief Minister confirmed he had spoken to the District Collector, Superintendent of Police, and Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha. He has directed authorities to provide the best possible medical care to the injured and has sought a detailed report on the number of workers present at the time of the incident and their current condition.
“We will support the affected families. I urge them to be brave,” he said, assuring full support and assistance to the victims’ families and ordering a thorough investigation into the tragedy.
