Fans in Lucknow expressed anger and disappointment after the fourth T20I between India and South Africa was abandoned on Wednesday, December 17, due to severely reduced visibility caused by dense fog, as per reports.

The Ekana Cricket Stadium was reportedly packed with spectators who had arrived in large numbers hoping to watch India take on South Africa in a potential series-deciding match. India had a strong record at the venue, having won all their previous games there, and a win for Suryakumar Yadav’s side would have sealed the series for the hosts.

However, the match could not proceed as thick fog enveloped the stadium, making visibility extremely poor. The toss, scheduled for 6.30 pm, did not take place. According to reports, umpires conducted an inspection at the scheduled toss time and carried out another check half an hour later, but visibility did not improve to a playable level.

With conditions remaining unsafe, officials reportedly decided to abandon the match without even the toss being held.

As per visuals circulating on social media, several fans were seen outside the stadium holding up their tickets and demanding refunds from the authorities. Reportedly, some supporters said they were ‘heartbroken’ after spending money and time to watch the Indian team, only for the match to be called off due to fog.

The game was scheduled to begin at 7 pm, but worsening fog and continued lack of visibility ultimately forced the abandonment, leaving fans frustrated and disappointed.
