Fadnavis likely to Maharashtra’s next CM, Ajit Pawar, Shinde to be deputies
After the landslide success of MahaYuti, Devendra Fadnavis is likely to be the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra, with an official announcement expected soon. The current Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, is likely to serve as the deputy CM, along with NCP leader Ajit Pawar.
It is reported that Fadnavis will lead as CM for the first two and a half years, after which Eknath Shinde will take over the leadership. The three key alliance leaders will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Following this meeting, the official announcement is set to be made on Tuesday.
The Maharashtra election results were declared on Saturday, with the MahaYuti alliance securing a win with 133 seats. This includes the BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), and other allied parties, who collectively outperformed other contenders.
The opposition alliance MVA (Maha Vikas Aghadi), which included the Congress and NCP, secured fewer seats, paving the way for MahaYuti.
The next Chief Minister of Maharashtra is set to be officially announced on Tuesday, marking the start of a new political phase for the state.
