The Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the deadline for submitting the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) by one week across five states and one Union Territory – Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Uttar Pradesh.

Revised deadlines

Tamil Nadu & Gujarat: New deadline December 19, 2025 (Friday), instead of December 14, 2025 (Sunday).

Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh & Andaman & Nicobar Islands: New deadline December 23, 2025 (Tuesday), replacing the previous December 18, 2025 (Thursday).

Uttar Pradesh: New deadline December 31, 2025 (Wednesday), extended from December 26, 2025 (Friday).

Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa said the state had sought additional time to ensure a more organised verification process and to update the electoral roll accurately. The extra days will help officials re-check records of deceased, relocated, and missing voters.
