Hansraj college, one of the top colleges of Delhi University has reportedly suspended around 30 students including four union leaders over allegedly ‘defaming the college’ and ‘misconduct’ on social media during the college’s annual fest.

The suspension notice was reportedly issued between April 20 and 25 which targeted the several students from the Left who allegedly defamed the college by using derogatory language and then shared it on social media. The move comes in the wake of alleged violence and misconduct during the annual fest held on April 8 and 9, as per the reports.

The reports suggest that the first suspension notice was issued on April 20 against a single student stating that the student was allegedly involved in acts of indiscipline, including defamation of the institution and the use of derogatory language against the teaching and non-teaching staff.

Subsequently, 14 students were suspended in a latter notice, and another 7 were suspended on April 23. By April 25, a total of 30 students were suspended.

All the suspended students reportedly have been barred from entering the college campus except to sit for examinations.

Following the suspension order, students are reportedly going to protest against the principal.
