Disha Salian Case: Father Sends ₹500 Crore Defamation Notice To Aaditya Thackeray, Anil Deshmukh

Satish Salian, father of late celebrity manager Disha Salian, has sent a ₹500 crore defamation notice to Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray and former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, seeking an apology, withdrawal of alleged defamatory statements and compensation. The notice comes days after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered an FIR following a Bombay High Court direction for a fresh probe into Salian’s death.

What The Defamation Notice Says

According to the notice, Satish Salian has objected to statements allegedly made by Aaditya Thackeray and Anil Deshmukh regarding his legal efforts to seek a fresh investigation into his daughter’s death.

The notice accuses Thackeray of questioning Salian’s motives and portraying his pursuit of justice as politically motivated and intended to damage Thackeray’s reputation.

It also alleges that Thackeray had claimed Salian was being “used as a tool to harass” him, while Deshmukh allegedly supported that position.

The notice demands an unconditional and public apology, retraction of the statements and ₹500 crore in compensation. Thackeray and Deshmukh have reportedly been given seven days to comply.

Notice Questions ‘Clean Chit’ Claim

The notice also challenges an alleged representation that the CBI had previously investigated the Disha Salian case and given Aaditya Thackeray a “clean chit”.

Salian’s legal notice argues that such a claim was used to portray his demand for an independent investigation as unnecessary and motivated.

The notice further refers to an alleged statement by Deshmukh on March 23, 2025, describing the Disha Salian case as a “conspiracy to defame Aaditya Thackeray”.

Salian has demanded that any apology be published and broadcast across major print, television and digital media platforms. The notice also calls for a video apology of at least three minutes on the leaders’ official social media accounts.

Disha Salian Death Case And CBI Probe

Disha Salian, who had worked as a celebrity manager and was associated with actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died on June 8, 2020, after falling from a high-rise residential building in Mumbai’s Malad area. She was 28.

Mumbai Police had registered an Accidental Death Report in the case. Salian died six days before Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.

Her father later approached the Bombay High Court seeking an FIR and a fresh investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Following the court’s direction, the CBI registered an FIR on September 14. The agency’s investigation is examining allegations of criminal conspiracy, suppression or destruction of evidence and other claims raised in the case. The allegations in the FIR are subject to investigation and do not amount to findings of guilt.

Aaditya Thackeray Denies Link With Disha Salian

Aaditya Thackeray has denied having any association with Disha Salian.

In a post on X, Thackeray said he had never met Salian or had any acquaintance with her. He described the repeated linking of his name to the case as an attempt at character assassination and said the renewed investigation should proceed without what he called political distractions.

Thackeray has previously denied allegations surrounding the case. Other people named in the CBI FIR have also rejected allegations against them.

The CBI investigation is now underway, with the agency examining the circumstances surrounding Salian’s death and the allegations raised by her father.
