Delhi-Vienna Air India flight plunged 900 feet mid-air days after Ahmedabad crash: Report

Days after the horrific AI171 flight crash in Ahmedabad on June 12, a Delhi-Vienna Air India flight dropped around 900 feet mid-air, according to a TOI report.
After departing from Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport at 2.56 am on June 14, the Boeing 777 flight AI187 landed safely in Vienna after a flight of 9 hours and 8 minutes.
Soon after take-off, the AI187 had abruptly lost altitude with stick shaker warning and ground proximity warning system (GPWS) appearing ‘don’t sink’.
There was an altitude loss of around 900 feet during the climb, as per the report.
However, the pilots recovered the aircraft and continued the flight to Vienna.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is probing the incident, summoning Air India’s head of safety and pilots, who have been taken off duty amid the investigation.
On June 12, the London-bound Air India flight AI171 had crashed, which crashed on the BJ Medical College hostel building. The aircraft was carrying 242 passengers, with only one sole survivor, who was seated in seat 11A. A total of 260 bodies were handed over to the respective families after 17 days of the crash.
