Delhi University has suspended DUSU (Delhi University Students Union) joint secretary and ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad) representative Deepika Jha for a period of two months, following an inquiry into allegations that she slapped a professor at Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar College nearly a month ago, as per reports.
As per the reports, she has also been restricted from entering any DU campus in her capacity as a student leader during the suspension period.
The decision was reportedly taken after a committee examined the incident and submitted its findings. The university is expected to issue a formal suspension notice to Jha.
The incident had sparked controversy within the campus community, prompting calls for disciplinary action from faculty members and students. The university’s decision marks one of the most significant disciplinary steps taken against a DUSU office-bearer in recent years.
