A 35-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by a roadside food vendor in Delhi after an argument over an extra serving of chole (chickpeas). The incident took place near Jwalapuri Nala in the Nihal Vihar area of outer Delhi on Sunday night. The victim, identified as Sandeep, worked as a driver. He died in a hospital on Tuesday while receiving treatment. Police have reportedly arrested the accused vendor, identified as Chintu Gupta.

According to police, Sandeep visited a roadside chole bhature stall run by Gupta on Sunday night. After ordering and eating his food, he asked the vendor for some extra chole. However, the vendor allegedly refused to give him more, which led to an argument between the two. The argument soon turned into a physical fight. Police reportedly said that Gupta allegedly took a knife from his food cart and stabbed Sandeep several times. The victim suffered multiple injuries, including wounds to his abdomen, left arm and wrist.

Victim Taken to Hospital After Attack

After the attack, Sandeep was first taken to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital for treatment. Doctors examined his injuries and registered a medico-legal case. As his condition became serious, he was later shifted to Maharaja Agrasen Hospital in Punjabi Bagh. Despite medical treatment, he died on Tuesday.

Sandeep's father reached the spot after the incident and took his injured son to the hospital. He told the news agency that he found Sandeep lying in a pool of blood near the food stall. The victim had reportedly gone to the market with his friends and had also bought food to take home for his two children, a four-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl.

Police Arrest Accused, Add Murder Charges

Police arrested the accused, Chintu Gupta, on Monday. He was later sent to judicial custody. Initially, the police registered a case under Section 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with attempted murder. However, after Sandeep died during treatment, police added Section 103(1) of the BNS, which deals with murder.

Police also said that Sandeep's family initially claimed that several people were involved in the attack. However, the police said the victim was not in a condition to give a statement. The investigation is still underway, and officers are examining the statements of eyewitnesses and other details related to the incident. Sandeep is survived by his parents, wife and two children.
