Delhi SIR: Arvind Kejriwal and Family Served Election Commission Notices

In a major political flashpoint ahead of the publication of Delhi's revised electoral roll, the Delhi Election Commission has served official notices to former Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal and four members of his immediate family.

The notices were issued under the "Unmapped with Last SIR" category during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, sparking sharp political reactions from the opposition party over the verification process.

The notices directly impact Arvind Kejriwal, his wife Sunita Kejriwal, his 25-year-old son Pulkit Kejriwal, and his parents, Gobind Ram Kejriwal and Gita Devi. All five family members were flagged alongside 105 other voters listed in Part-51 (KG Marg) of Assembly Constituency 40 (New Delhi).

Under the Election Commission's guidelines, electors are flagged as "unmapped" when their current electoral roll entries cannot be matched with records from the previous revision, requiring them to submit supporting documents to establish eligibility and verify their entries.

The Aam Aadmi Party hit back forcefully against the move. Taking to social media platform X, the party publicly questioned how the names of a former three-time Chief Minister of Delhi and his family could suddenly go missing or remain unmapped on the state's voter list, suggesting that the action carried political motivations.

However, election officials clarified that the notices are part of an extensive, city-wide verification drive aimed at updating voter records:

• Massive Audit Scope: Approximately 33 lakh electors across Delhi have been flagged either for lacking mapping with previous SIR records or for logical discrepancies such as name and date of birth errors.
• Routine Discrepancies: The poll body is issuing notices across both categories under the standard claims and objections procedure to ensure complete accuracy.
• Ongoing Verification: Hearings and physical document verifications are currently underway across multiple constituencies.
• Final Publication Date: The publication of Delhi's final electoral roll is scheduled for November 4, 2026.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta Also Flagged, Entries Later Validated

The verification exercise has not been limited to opposition figures. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was similarly flagged for discrepancies in Assembly Constituency 14 (Shalimar Bagh).

Election Commission officials stated that Chief Minister Gupta's details and supporting documents were subsequently verified and her entry in the electoral roll has been fully validated for inclusion in the final November 4 publication.
