Delhi Police File FIR After Woman Alleges Her Morphed Photo Was Used At Jantar Mantar Protest

The Delhi Police has registered an FIR after a 25-year-old woman alleged that her photograph was digitally manipulated and displayed alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photograph during a protest organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar.

The FIR was registered on Thursday at the Cyber Police Station, New Delhi, under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Woman Alleges Photo Used Without Consent

The complainant, identified as Riddhima Sharma, told police that her personal photograph was allegedly used without her consent and digitally manipulated using AI face-swapping tools.

According to her complaint, her face was superimposed onto an image of the prime minister, creating what she described as a false and sensationalised picture.

She alleged that the image was subsequently printed on banners and posters and displayed during the protest at Jantar Mantar.

Allegations Against Protest Organisers

Sharma has named CJP protest organisers and key functionaries Saurbah Das, Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka and Ratna Singh in her complaint.

She alleged that the organisers and their accomplices had unauthorisedly obtained her private photographs and were responsible for their alleged use.

However, the FIR currently lists the accused as unidentified, and police have not named any of the individuals mentioned in the complaint as accused at this stage.

Banners Allegedly Displayed Before Crowd

According to the complaint, the banners carrying the allegedly morphed image were waved and displayed before people at Jantar Mantar.

Sharma further alleged that derogatory slogans and vulgar and sexually suggestive comments were made against her during the protest.

She also alleged that videos of the banners and slogans were recorded and later circulated on social media platforms, including Instagram.

Woman Says She Had No Connection With Protest

The complainant told police that she had no connection with the CJP, its protest or the material displayed on the banners.

She has sought action against those responsible for allegedly using and circulating her morphed photograph without her consent.

Police Probe Creation And Circulation Of Image

A senior police officer said Sharma had alleged that protesters and organisers used her personal photograph without consent and digitally manipulated it using AI face-swapping tools.

Police said the allegations are being investigated from all angles, including the creation, printing, public display and online circulation of the allegedly morphed image.
