‘Dance of the Hillary’ virus: Pakistan-linked cyber attack targets Indian citizens
Amid rising India-Pakistan tensions, Indian agencies have issued a high alert over a suspected Pakistani cyber campaign targeting Indian citizens through malware disguised as video files and documents.
The malware, reportedly named the ‘Dance of the Hillary’ virus, is being circulated via platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, email, and Telegram.
Officials said it arrives in the form of suspicious links or .exe files like tasksche.exe, and can compromise sensitive data, including banking details, once activated on a device.
Intelligence reports indicate this is part of a broader cyber offensive by Pakistan following India’s recent military operations under Operation Sindoor.
Indian armed forces have reportedly destroyed multiple terror camps across the border, including in major Pakistani cities. In response, Pakistan is said to be stepping up cyber threats.
Citizens are urged not to click unknown links, avoid forwarding unverified content, and report suspicious cyber activity to authorities immediately.
