Indian cricket batsman Rinku Singh has reportedly received an extortion threat from the underworld allegedly from the Dawood Ibrahim gang, demanding ₹5 crore. The Mumbai Crime Branch has confirmed that the threatening messages were sent to Rinku’s promotional team between February and April 2025.

As per the reports, the threats came in the form of three messages warning the player’s representatives to pay up. Investigators suspect the calls and messages originated from overseas numbers linked to Dawood’s operatives.

The same gang had earlier threatened Zeeshan Siddiqui, son of late NCP leader Baba Siddiqui, demanding ₹10 crore after Baba Siddiqui’s murder. Zeeshan received the extortion emails between April 19 and 21, the Crime Branch revealed.

Two suspects, Mohammad Dilshad and Mohammad Naveed,  have been arrested in Trinidad and Tobago in connection with the extortion network. Authorities believe the duo played a key role in coordinating messages sent to both Rinku and Zeeshan.
