Cow vigilante Bittu Bajrangi alleges ₹30,000 marriage fraud, FIR registered

A cow vigilante, Bittu Bajrangi, has alleged that he was duped of ₹30,000 by a man who promised to arrange his marriage, as per reports.
An FIR has been reportedly registered against the accused and his associates based on a complaint lodged by Bajrangi, who is also an accused in the 2023 communal violence in Nuh, Haryana.
According to the complaint, Bajrangi informed a man identified as Bunty, said to be a relative of his neighbour, that he was seeking a suitable match and requested to be informed if any proposal arose.
Bunty subsequently introduced him to a woman named Rani. The pair allegedly invited Bajrangi to Aligarh on three occasions to meet prospective brides, though he reportedly did not approve of any of the proposed matches.
The complaint further states that Bunty later sent him a photograph of another young woman, whom Bajrangi approved. On September 5, 2025, Bunty and Rani allegedly visited Bajrangi’s residence along with the woman and her family, and the wedding was fixed for February 7.
Bajrangi claimed that, as agreed, he transferred ₹30,000 to the accused on February 6 to purchase clothes for the bride-to-be. However, when he travelled to Aligarh with his wedding procession on the scheduled date, the accused were allegedly untraceable and their mobile phones switched off.
“When I called the bride, she stated that she knew nothing about the wedding and I had to return empty-handed,” Bajrangi said in his complaint.
A senior police officer stated that, under the alleged arrangement, Bajrangi had agreed to pay ₹1.20 lakh to the accused for organising the marriage.
Based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered against Bunty, Rani and others at Saran police station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. ‘
An investigation is underway.
As per reports, a neighbour of Bajrangi said preparations had been made at his residence to welcome the bride, but the anticipated ceremony ultimately collapsed.
