The Congress will prominently raise its demand for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar at the INDIA opposition bloc’s rally in Delhi on November 1, with the party expecting around 10 lakh people to attend the protest against alleged irregularities in the electoral process.

As per media reports, Haryana Congress in-charge Sanjay Dutt and state unit president Rao Narendra Singh said the rally at Ramlila Maidan would focus on electoral roll integrity, transparency in elections and the protection of every eligible citizen’s right to vote.

The leaders said the party would not compromise on these issues and maintained that concerns over alleged discrepancies in electoral rolls and the possible deletion of eligible voters’ names must be addressed.

Congress Calls For Chief Election Commissioner’s Removal

Dutt and Singh questioned the impartiality of the Election Commission and said concerns about the fairness of the electoral process could not be adequately addressed as long as Kumar remained in office.

They argued that his removal was necessary and added that if an investigation found him responsible for undermining the democratic system or violating the law, appropriate legal action, including arrest, should follow.

The Congress has accused the Election Commission of irregularities in its functioning and raised objections to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

‘Vote Bachao Desh Bachao’ Campaign Enters Decisive Phase

The November 1 rally is being projected by the Congress as a major mobilisation under its nationwide ‘Vote Bachao Desh Bachao’ campaign.

Party leaders said preparations had intensified across Haryana, with workers directed to document alleged discrepancies in electoral rolls, spread awareness about voting rights and mobilise people from every district, block, village and polling booth.

The party expects a large turnout from Haryana at the Delhi rally, which it says will send a message of opposition unity in defence of democracy and the Constitution.

INDIA Bloc Rally To Target Alleged ‘Vote Chori’

The rally at Ramlila Maidan is being described as the culmination of the INDIA bloc’s ‘Delhi Chalo’ march against alleged irregularities in the Election Commission’s functioning and the SIR exercise.

The Congress has framed the protest around what it calls “vote chori” (vote theft), arguing that electoral transparency and the protection of voting rights are essential to free and fair elections.

“The right to vote is the foundation of democracy. Protecting every citizen’s vote is equivalent to safeguarding the Constitution and the people’s mandate,” Dutt said.

He added that the campaign was not directed at an individual or political party alone, but was intended to protect citizens’ constitutional right to elect their government through free and fair elections.

Haryana Congress Reviews Rally Preparations

Congress general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal chaired a meeting of Haryana Congress leaders and office-bearers at Indira Bhavan in New Delhi on Friday to review preparations for the rally, Dutt told PTI.

The party is now expanding its campaign across Haryana ahead of November 1, with electoral roll concerns, voting rights and the demand for Kumar’s removal expected to remain central to its mobilisation.
