Congress leader Pawan Khera on Thursday demanded clarification from Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri over reported references to him in recently released court documents linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Addressing a press conference, Khera alleged that Puri met Epstein multiple times after 2014, claiming that between 2014 and 2017 the minister met him at least 14 times — including nine meetings in 2014 alone. He also referred to reports of 62 email exchanges between the two.

Khera further alleged that in 2020, US authorities identified an Indian victim in Epstein’s crimes and contacted the Government of India through the Indian Embassy regarding compensation for the victim’s family, but did not receive a response.

Meanwhile, the Jharkhand Youth Congress also sought answers on Thursday, citing media reports that mention 62 email exchanges and 14 meetings between Puri and Epstein between 2002 and 2013.

Puri has denied any wrongdoing or knowledge of Epstein’s criminal activities, and no charges have been filed against him.
