Chennai man kills wife, dies by suicide

A 52-year-old man killed his wife and later died by suicide at their home in Chennai early Monday morning, as per reports.

The couple, Subramanian and Nagalakshmi, lived in Nanganallur. Nagalakshmi ran silk saree shops in Nanganallur and Anna Nagar and was the only earning member of the family. Subramanian had left the house two years ago after a fight but had recently returned. Police reportedly said the couple often argued about money matters. 

Police have reportedly sent both bodies for postmortem at Chromepet Government Hospital and further investigation is ongoing. Neighbors said they sometimes heard loud arguments from the house in the past few days, as per reports. However, no one expected such a tragic incident to happen.

Police officials believe the crime happened after a serious domestic dispute late at night. They are checking phone messages and other details to understand what exactly led to the incident. Nagalakshmi was also active on social media and worked as an Instagram influencer, too, suggest the reports. Her sudden death has shocked people in the local community.
