Chemical engineer arrested for murder at rehab centre in Delhi
A 27-year-old chemical engineer allegedly killed another inmate by slitting his throat at a drug de-addiction centre in Alipur, outer Delhi, as per reports. The accused was arrested by police soon after the incident.
The incident reportedly happened after an argument between the two men. The fight reportedly started over abusive language, which quickly turned violent. During the altercation, the accused allegedly attacked the victim with a sharp object.
Police reportedly said they received information about a stabbing around 4 a.m. in a colony in Hiranki village. Officers reached the spot and found the victim seriously injured. He was taken for medical help, but he could not survive.The accused was taken into custody at the scene. Police have registered a case and started an investigation to understand the exact reason behind the fight and how the weapon was obtained.
Officials are also checking the management and security arrangements of the de-addiction centre. Further investigation is ongoing. Police sources said both men were staying at the centre for treatment related to substance abuse. They had reportedly argued earlier as well, but staff members had managed to calm them down at that time.
Authorities have questioned other inmates and staff to gather more information, the victim's body has been sent for an autopsy, and police are investigating the case.
