At the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney will undertake an official visit to India from February 27 to March 2. This will be Carney’s first official trip to India since assuming office.

Carney will begin his visit in Mumbai on February 27. During his stay in the financial capital, he is scheduled to attend business meetings and interact with Indian and Canadian CEOs, financial leaders, innovators, educators, and representatives of Canadian pension funds operating in India.

The engagements are expected to focus on strengthening trade, investment, and financial cooperation between the two countries.

On March 1, he will travel to New Delhi. Delegation-level talks between the two leaders will be held on March 2 at Hyderabad House. The discussion will review progress in the India-Canada strategic partnership and build on their previous meeting in 2025.

Key areas of cooperation include trade and investment, energy, critical minerals, agriculture, education, research and innovation, and people-to-people ties. The leaders are also expected to exchange views on important regional and global issues.

Both Prime Ministers will later attend the India-Canada CEOs forum. The visit comes at a crucial time as both countries work toward normalising bilateral relations and reaffirming a balanced partnership.
