Bypolls results: BJP secures two, Congress four out of 13 seats, TMC claims Bengal

The first Assembly bypolls after the Lok Sabha elections proved to be a boost for the opposition INDIA bloc, as BJP secured only two out of 13 seats. While the Congress secured four, the tally for INDIA bloc stood at 10, thanks to a TMC clean-sweep in West Bengal.
By-elections were held on 13 seats of seven states of the country
Amarwada in Madhya Pradesh; Rupauli in Bihar; Jalandhar West in Punjab; Ranaghat South, Raiganj, Bagda, Maniktala in West Bengal; Hamirpur, Dehra and Nalagarh in Himachal Pradesh; Badrinath, Manglaur in Uttarakhand; and Vikravandi in Tamil Nadu went to polls on July 10.
In the results declared today, Congress has won four, TMC four, BJP two, and AAP and DMK have won one seat each.
In Bihar’s Rupauli, independent candidate Sankar Singh has come out victorious.
