Blue Drum Murder Case Verdict Today: Saurabh’s Brother Demands Death Penalty

The Meerut court is set to deliver its verdict on Wednesday in the sensational blue drum murder case, with Saurabh Rajput’s brother Rahul seeking the death penalty for the accused.

Rahul told news agency that the family wants the harshest punishment for those accused of killing Saurabh. He said the family would approach the High Court or Supreme Court if the court awards a punishment less than death.

“If the accused is awarded anything less than the death sentence, we will approach the High Court or the Supreme Court,” Rahul said.

He said the case had affected his business and family life, with court appearances continuing for more than 17-18 months. Rahul appeared in court 11 times, while his mother appeared nine times. A total of 22 witnesses gave testimony during the proceedings.

Prosecution Seeks Death Penalty

The prosecution has sought the death penalty for Saurabh’s wife, Muskan Rastogi, and Sahil Shukla, whom it has described as her alleged lover and co-accused.

The defence has sought leniency, arguing that there was no eyewitness to the murder.

The case saw 126 hearings and testimonies before District Judge Arvind Kumar Mishra. The prosecution and defence presented their arguments before the court.

What Police Allegedly Recovered

According to the prosecution, the murder was premeditated. It alleged that the accused purchased a knife, razor, cement, sand and a large blue drum before the crime.

Police and forensic witnesses told the court that Saurabh’s body was recovered from the drum. Post-mortem evidence recorded injuries allegedly caused by sharp-edged weapons.

Saurabh’s mother, Renu Rajput, also accused Muskan and Sahil of killing her son. She told the court that Saurabh had married Muskan despite opposition from his family and alleged that Muskan continued meeting Sahil after the marriage.

How the Case Reached Court

The case was brought before the court on March 17, 2025, while Muskan and Sahil were sent to Meerut jail two days later. The trial was transferred to the district judge’s court in July 2025, with arguments continuing for around 13 months.
